Taking Nantun coal mining area in Yanzhou,Shandong province as an example,the information of change of land use in the mining area over the past 30 years was extracted based on remote sensing data of four periods with GIS spatial analyze method.The results of study showed that in the coal mining area the cultivated land has been reduced by 44% from 1978 to 2007,the reason is the transformation of large areas from cultivated land to construction land,subsidence area and woodland.The area of construction land has been increased by 117%,the area of woodland has been increased by 323%,and the area of subsidence has occupied 14% of the studied area in 2007.The results of study provided a basis for the use planning of land in the coal mining area.
