The backward traditional means of mineral resource management can't meet requirement of the land and resource information construction, and considering the office work of mineral management, we present a GIS-based information system on the planning and management of the mineral resources. Firstly, this paper introduces the functions included in such a information system in details, then describes other aspects such as system overall design, database, adopted technology. The system would improve the routine management work of the mineral resource management department, and also help them to make a decision in mineral resource planning.
