The author discussed the current situation of the smelting industry of heavy nonferrous metals in China as well as the developmental trends of the industry overseas. A comparison was made between China and foreign countries to show how China is lagging behind in this regard. As a result, useful suggestions were proposed to promote development of the industry in China.
