In this paper, the design of the strategic process and the definition of strategic function are made for the preservation and exploitation levels of major metallic mineral resources in China, and a research framework of the strategic analysis is put forward. Meanwhile, in view of the conditions and the actual background bringing out this research subject, the establishment of China Metal Decision Support System (CMDSS) is taken as an important way for carrying out the said research. Based on the analyses, both some qualitative and quantitative results of strategic analyses are presented in such aspects as the economic prediction of respective industry, the analysis of investment sensitivity, the prediction of supply and demand, and the analysis of key technical factors.
