Sill pillared mining has been used in Tongshan Copper Mine where high tonnage of ore has been reserved in the sill pillars. After an investigation into the field geological conditions and stope geometry, pillars in four stopes have been recovered using medium-to-long holes or shallow holes. The stoping process has been safe and efficient, leading to high technical and economical results.
