This paper presents the states-of-the-arts of pillar recovery in China as well as the pioneer tests conducted in Jingshan Gold Mine. Considering the stress distribution in pillars, block caving system is proposed for recovering these pillars. Major technological aspects of the new system and forecasted results are described in the paper.
