Abstract:The mining and dressing plant to be built is to be located along a mountainous slope where slope stability would present one of the major engineering geological concerns. In the paper, the Janbu's limiting equilibrium common slicing method is used to evaluate stability of typical section planes at relatively unstable localities. The Janbu's method not only provides check computation for overall stability of the entire slope, but also makes it possible to determine the stability of each slice divided. Results indicate that the slope at the chosen site is very stable as a whole and will not cause slope failure.
