Based on the overyears working practice, the author has conducted a technical modification in the conventional potassium periodate oxidation method used to determine manganese content and found out a method by which the content of manganese in underwater bed sediment can be quickly determined in a short time, This method is of a practical importance to the mine environment monitoring.
