Abstract:Middle-lengthened hole room-and-pillar mining with advanced overcut is a modification of the traditional room-and-pillar method and shows a better solution to the problems related to operation safety andstope ore handling, as encountered in the large and high open stopes. This modified system is presented in the paper, including the stoping scheme and mining technique. Furthermore, its tech-economic indices are compared with those of the sublevel open stope method.
