In this paper, the basic structure and properties of hydrate are briefly introduced. A review is made on the applications of hydrate - based technology to gas separation, purification, storage and transportation. The feasibility of using this technology to process, store and to transport CBM is analyzed. The application prospects of this technology in the exploitation of CBM are discussed. It is valuable to the storage and transportation of CBM and to the disposal of mine methane, etc.
