Based on a description of the current situation of the discharge of wastes from mining enterprises and their negative impact on the environment, the paper discusses the close relationship of wasteless mining with comprehensive utilization of resources and mining sustainable development. According to the paper, it is necessary and significant to popularize waste-free mining. Examples are cited as to the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, solution mining, backfill with tailings and waste rock, comprehensive exploitation of mining wastes, so as to demonstrate the efforts carried out in some Chinese mines over the recent years in wasteless mining. Finally, some suggestions are proposed as to push ahead wasteless mining in China.
